Newsnight reaches out

Very short post today, well a comment actually. Good to see BBC Newsnight last night and their invitation to a guest from the marketing community, to speak on the current state of finance. Stephen Woodford is the Chief Executive of advertising agency, DDB. The last TV outing I remember for (one incarnation of) the agency was back in the 1990s, when they were featured in a documentary on graduate recruitment, (marketing community chuckles). VW is a notable client. Pat on the back for Paul Mason and co @ Newsnight, to see them break with the usual talking heads rosta.

  2. Thanks for the comments on the Newsnight feature. It was good to get the chance to put across the message that those companies that cut back in the downturn tend to fare worst, while those who keep ad spends up recover quickest and come out stronger. The IPA’s Bellwether report today shows this message needs to keep being hammered home!
