Some of the people I work with use these car share schemes, at both ends of the spectrum. From Golfs to Lamborghinis ! For someone like me driving most days, car ownership is still best, despite the ever increasing tax rates and lack of clarity on which cars should be in which band. One of my eco-cars is taxed at over £ 100, when it should be £ 35. Such ambiguity does not instil belief that the government is trying to do the best thing for the environment.&lt;/p&gt;

At least for urban folks in big cities who mostly use subway/tube during the week anyway. I sold my car and now happily pick whatever model I like, usually a little red mini, from the local zipcar garage, a few minutes away from where I live.&lt;/p&gt;
